Nice, medium-sized castle that is partially restored. Most of the interior was not preserved as it was used as an agricultural estate for more than two centuries. Admission is quite steep considering the modest size and length of the tour (about 45 minutes)

Great castle that participated in a famous Czech movie, therefore lots of domestic tourists there. Unfortunately, like in so many other places only limited information in differing languages provided.
Moat is still with water and behind there is a great bird show with the falconer taking good care of his winged friends.

Castle inside is only allowed to be entered with a guided tour (which is mainly given in Czech, sometimes in high season there are some tours in foreign languages)

Water castle Švihov was build in 15th century on the place of an older gothical keep. The castle offers 3 guided tours - the main castle, the tower and the kitchen. It is very well accessible by car - the castle is just 5 minutes walk from the car park in the town centre. Car park is 30 CZK for 3 hours, castle tour is 110/80/80 CZK. The castle is well restored and has interesting interiors, the guide we had was brilliant - knowledgeable and enthusiastic - couldn't ask for more. There is also a pub inside the castle grounds. Do not miss a walk around the castle with some nice views.

Nice castle and surroundings. It's also possible to take a boat to see the remnant of water fortification.

Wow! You can rent a small boat (100 Kč) and 'sail' around the castle.

Beautiful castle, shame you can't just wander around the buildings... you're only allowed in with a guide, hence 4 stars. But the courtyard is lovely!
